April 2008. I've repaired about 10 type Bose AWRC3x (the radio/cd model with lift up lid and top controls). If the cd won't play or skips, try cleaning the lens VERY carefully with a cotton bud with some isopropyl alcohol. Let it dry then try again. My nan's CD player has stopped working. It is a portable one and has a radio and cassette player too.... however, if the disc is spinning, then there is probably focus lock but the sled could be jammed.... First i tried to add a thick metal washer and glued it to the center white plastic disc that aligns the disc, i figured the "weight" would keep the disc from slipping, still had a error, so i removed the 2 screws and removed the top drive cover to expost the laser, well i used alcohol, q-tip and cleaned the rubber circle the motor uses to spin.

Exact same problem with my portable cd player- manufactured november 2003, bought march 2004. the cd will spin and not play and then will say "nF disc." before, some cds were found and others not, and it takes 20 minutes to "find" the disc, before stopping 3 seconds into the song with "P5" appearing on the screen. any help?. I am thinking though that the laser assembly is bad, because before a CD player or a DVD player will spin, The laser unit has to focus on the disc, and then it will spin. Some models of Aiwa CD players did however have bad spindle motors. If the laser is bad, buy a new unit, because between the parts and the labor, it will run you very close to.

Hi, I've got a Toshiba SD-1200 DVD player which won't spin up when you. insert a disc in the tray.
